Samsung has a complete application for backups. There are several options I chose to backup too a USB Flash drive and chose backup everything. The backup is encrypted and one needs to have a Samsung account to decrypt the backup for restoring it in entirety or certain parts to the existing or new Samsung phone. All in all the backup went quite well and did not take a long time. I prefer to have my backups locally. I have used Samsung Smart Switch connected to my personal computer via USB cable as well for backups. If run into an issue with unmounting the USB device connected to your Galaxy phone, simply turnoff the phone and remove the USB device and your backup will be golden then restart your phone.
