External data backup A53 5G

I am trying to back up.all of my phone data to an external USB drive. However, it only wants to see an internal SD card. Any ideas?

 I have an A53 5G.

Did you try / Are you using Smart Switch for the backup ? !?

Here's how to do it with

Smart Switch:

• Connect the USB drive

   on your phone  ≻

• Open Smart Switch  ≻

• Press the SD Icon:

 

• The USB Drive should be listed:

The USB drive I have is compatible with the USB port on the phone.

I tried smart switch. Do I have to remove the SD card before it will recognize the USB drive?

do you have the proper adapter for the USB drive?  You need an OTG USB-A to USB-C adapter, a USB drive made specifically to utilize the USB-C port on the phone.
