Re: A54 5G
Why do I keep getting an sms message to enable Google Messages? Should I enable the Google Messages app? If I do can I disable Samsung Messages or better yet delete it? If I don't want to enable Google Messages how do I stop the request to enable it?

@gegphotojr Once you enable Google Messages as your default SMS app, you can ignore Samsung Messages app.

Thanks for feedback. What if I don't want to use Google Messages? Than what? Can I stop the message? Why is Samsung allowing Google to supersede their (samsung) app and continue to aggravate their customers?

I tried Google messages, but quickly came back because it lost all my categories and pinned contacts.

Exactly why I don’t want to use Google Messages. I have found Google support to be totally subpar compared to Samsung support. Goolge is too big (like Microsoft) to care about individual users.

Just a note if you were to change to Google messages it would than become your default messenger and transfer or should transfer your texts over if you want to keep samsung messages than just continue using it and ignore the message to transfer

All do respect and thanks for responding. I already know all that. I am reading about other's issues with messages not being moved over to Google Messages. Frankly, I don't need all extras that Google's Messages app is supposed to offer and I am not fan of AI. The other thing is I don't want to have to continue saying NO to changing to Google's Messages that's a pain in ukw. I don't understand why Samsung is allowing this takeover by not making Google allow an opt-out option. Is the Google Messages app mandatory on Samsung's top level phones?

Hello gegphotojr, Welcome to the Community. We understand not wanting to use the Google Messages app.

Please see: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Samsung-Apps-and-Services/Samsung-Messages-will-no-longer-be-pre...

You are welcome to keep using the Samsung messages app. Please note, not all carriers support Samsung Messages. Additionally, the notification to switch to Google Messages cannot be disabled, only swiped away.

You are welcome to submit feedback to Samsung using the option under the Support tab in the Members app. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692
