I just had to get a new phone (A35, I had an A53) because my last one kept going into boot-loop randomly after I installed a software update, so I'm now leery of updates..anyone know what the most recent one I'm being asked to install is? (Security, etc?) Just worried about experiencing a repeat.

@BlackMetal81 If you could provide a screenshot of the update details, we might be able to shed some light onto it.

If it is only 400-500 MB in size, it is probably just a security update.

Recommend when doing software updates, connect to a WiFi network, go to your Developer Options Menu in the main settings and enable WIRELESS DEBUGGING, then use the sim card tray key which came the box, locate the sim card tray (usually on the bottom of the phone, next to the charger port and the microphone), poke it into the sim card tray until the tray pops out, remove your sim card, and pop the tray back in, and leave the sim card out until the update is completed and the phone is rebooted and fully functional.
Before you disconnect the WiFi, pop your sim card tray back out and place the sim card in the indentation of the tray until it fits tightly, and insert it into the phone. Disconnect the WiFi network, and reboot the phone to make sure the mobile 4G or 5G network refreshes itself and is working properly.
The Wireless Debugging should help protect your phone from software bugs over the WiFi network.
Since that buggy Android 14 update which completely permanently destroyed my sim card, I always take these precautions while doing Android system software updates. Trust me, it works.
