I use an Ethernet tethered Samsung Galaxy A25 5G (with a Belkin 60W USB-C to Ethernet + Charge Adapter) feeding a Linksys router for a rural internet connection via Visible, and I always the hotspot on.
Only had it a few weeks.
I went out of town for a couple of days and left my phone on, router on (both powered through a UPS), tethered ethernet on, wifi on, and also left computer on to see if the internet connection would drop while I was gone. I have had it drop before.
However, when I returned, the hotspot had turned itself off, but the tethered Ethernet was still on and I still had an internet connection.
There are no other wifi or Ethernet connections in the area.
Previously, I thought hotspot had to be on to connect to the internet but apparently not.
To test it to make sure, I turned tethered Ethernet off and lost the internet connection.
Turned only the Ethernet tether option back on (no hotspot) and I had internet again.
Can anyone explain exactly how the Ethernet tethering works?

@tammons Enabling the Hotspot causes your phone to create a Wifi network which Wifi devices can connect to. It has absolutely nothing to do with Ethernet nor Bluetooth tethering.
Tethering will work with Hotspot off since Hotspot has nothing to do with it.
