After the BIOS update that was pushed out, Windows can no longer find the battery. That means it no longer shows up on the task bar, the battery settings, the about device settings, or a battery report through the terminal. That means I can no longer check to see how much battery I have while I am working, until the machine dies. As far as the OS is concerned there is no battery installed in the laptop. Yet if I use apps like Battery Meter to check the battery it will say I have no battery installed, but my battery is 255%.  I have seen others reporting similarly on Reddit.

Mostly fixed it for me 🙂

The EmuEC device reported a 'power failure', I rolled back the driver and now I can view my battery % in the battery settings, but not in the tray area.

It does charge while using Windows now so it's much less of an impediment.

Hey all,
So I reached out to support, just to see whats up, and im not convinced they're working on this. I got macroed, and was basically told to send in my device dispite my explanation that this is 100% a BIOS Update issue. My device was plugged in, the version went up, and it doesnt appear the update failed. Samsung also does NOT provide a good path to try downgrading.

However, I did some searching and after the update it appears that the device "Samsung EmuED Device" is showing a "STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE" in Windows. I'm not an engineer but I believe this might be a device responsible for the USBC Boards. My suspicion is that there's a bug in the last BIOS pushed by Windows Update that causes the device to be under powered, or even overpowered, and not operate as expected. No amount of driver updates, windows reinstalls, or anything has fixed it.

However, what's strange is that if you go into the BIOS and go into the "Smart Battery Calibration" Section it does show the battery, the charge, and even acknowledges if your device is plugged in. So im also curious if its just not making some information available to the OS. Again, not an engineer. Nonetheless, im annoyed that support is blowing me off. And to send in my device it would likely take OVER a month, if not two, to get it back. ANd the nearest repair center is over 6 hours away. I refuse to send in my device and wait that long time (i live in a very remote area that takes time for packages to get to) for an issue that should be fixed by a 2 second bios update).

@Samsung please fix this issue. If needed, im sure myself, or anyone in this thread is willing to help with logs, but you really should be able to investigate this faster.

Hi, it's basically a device inter-communication issue, the device (and this specific device is being emulated by software to be then translated into hardware) cannot be properly initialized causing a conflict between devices, and then causing a problem that than is projected in Windows.

P. S.: Some microcontrollers dont like being trashed so the basically power down. There are a lot of independent chips on the board and it is difficult to trace down which component is the cause, so i can't say who and what is the problem.

P. P. S.: It's a rough representation of how it works.

Thanks for the temporary solution. My battery is now showing in 3rd party software and is charging.

Hi, this is a little update for who the temporary fix does not work or they did restart without the capability of rolling back the driver.

So you basically try to disable/enable the device, and if that doesn't work you disable these 4 devices, indicated in the last image.

Some of you may have less devices that my computer, so don't panic.

P. S.: For anyone wondering, I'm basically "destroying" my computer for these "temporary fixes".

I’m a French customer based in Réunion Island, and like many others, I’m facing a critical issue with the Galaxy Book 4 Edge.

After the recent BIOS update, Windows no longer detects the battery: no icon, no battery settings, no powercfg report — yet the laptop still runs on battery, which confirms this is a BIOS or ACPI firmware bug.

This issue is affecting users worldwide, and it's being reported on Reddit and here on Samsung Community.

However, Samsung remains silent, and some users are even being redirected to paid support lines or blamed for the issue.

If we don’t receive a clear statement or BIOS fix soon, I will personally help escalate this to major tech media outlets like Frandroid and Numerama, and involve French consumer protection services if necessary.

We won’t stay silent. A premium product deserves premium support, and right now, that’s not happening.

Please act.

I'm French too, and I'm in if someone decides to report this issue to major tech outlets. This is unacceptable behavior from Samsung.

Amen, and please consider contacting some U. S. Tech Media companies like: Tom's Hardware/Tom's Guide, ZDNET, The Verge, PC Mag just to name a few.
You're spot on regarding your support statement!
