Galaxy S PhonesSo I am posting here because after research I do not see anyone with this issue and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on what to do to attempt to fix it.
What will happen is my phone will lose internet connection while connected to my Wifi. As shown in the screen shots below it has the Wifi Symbol along with an exclamation mark. When I go to the Wifi settings it states "Internet may not be available"
The only way to fix the issue is to turn the wifi off then back on. Now keep in mind that this does not happen all the time as It will happen spoardically throughout the day and there does not seem to be a specific app that causes this. This has happened while browsing the internet on multiple different browsers and it has happened while watching videos in applications such as Youtube, Twitch, Netflix, Hulu, etc.... This issue only seems to be affecting my galaxy S8 as the other devices on my network does not have this issue including my old Samsung S7 Edge.
What I have tried is the following in no particular order
- Turned the phone off/on
- Cleared browser cache
- Cleared the cache partition
- Reset my wifi connections
- Factory reset my phone
- Reset my router
- Verified my Router Firmware was up to date
- Had Verizion send me a replacement phone. Same issue happens
My Router is the Google Onhub

Galaxy S PhonesI have used the developer option Allow Wi-Fi roaming scan for a month now. It seems to be a workaround for this issue, at least for me. The exclamation mark sign still appears every now and then but much less frequent. When it did appear, connection always recovered after a few seconds. The issue with this fix is that this developer option gets reset after reboot so I have to remember to re-enable after reboot.

Galaxy S PhonesBeen following this for a while. Unfortunately, I bought S8+. Big mistake. Worked fine for a month or so. Then problems as described developed. The 9/1 "fix" was ok, but still would disconnect/reconnect often "when signal improved". NO problem with any of my other devices. Now back to the "Exclamation Point of Death" as in the pre-fix.
I have the feeling Samsung is WELL aware of the problem, but the fix is probably expensive, so just ignore it. Go to the vendors and ask about the phone as if you want to buy and there is NO mention of the problem.
I am not tech-savvy enough to dig into the innards of my phone for some of the fixes described here. Besides, they seem for the most part temporary or sporadic at best.
If, as someone mentioned early on, there is a class action, maybe that will get Samsung's attention.
Thanks, just had to vent and add another "victim" to the pool.

Galaxy S PhonesSame problem.
I have a brand new two days old s8 and got this problem from the get go.
I am also with an unlocked phone (as in my country you do not have to buy a device from a provider) so no provider addons...
this is really annoying as the price fgor the s8 is not on the cheap side...

Galaxy S PhonesIt's gotta be a software issue right? The exact same thing happens to me with my xfinity router. I can't imagine this problem would be fixed by getting a new phone. But I'm getting really sick of this problem Samsung.

Galaxy S PhonesI was having the same problem with my Galaxy S8 that I wasn't having with my Galaxy S5. I did find something that worked for me. The problem seems to be with the MAC binding in the router. I have a TP Link router at home and I connect to a different router at work. Both will give me an IP address in the same range. That my not have anything to do with it, but once I deleted the ARP binding record on my home router, reconnected, my phone works! It was been working for 3 days now, so I am hoping it will keep working.
Log on to your router and see if you have an IP/MAC binding section, delete the binding record for the IP of your phone. Or you can disable ARP binding all together.
Hope it works for you too.
