So I am posting here because after research I do not see anyone with this issue and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on what to do to attempt to fix it.

What will happen is my phone will lose internet connection while connected to my Wifi. As shown in the screen shots below it has the Wifi Symbol along with an exclamation mark. When I go to the Wifi settings it states "Internet may not be available"

The only way to fix the issue is to turn the wifi off then back on. Now keep in mind that this does not happen all the time as It will happen spoardically throughout the day and there does not seem to be a specific app that causes this. This has happened while browsing the internet on multiple different browsers and it has happened while watching videos in applications such as Youtube, Twitch, Netflix, Hulu, etc.... This issue only seems to be affecting my galaxy S8 as the other devices on my network does not have this issue including my old Samsung S7 Edge.

What I have tried is the following in no particular order

  • Turned the phone off/on
  • Cleared browser cache
  • Cleared the cache partition
  • Reset my wifi connections
  • Factory reset my phone
  • Reset my router
  • Verified my Router Firmware was up to date
  • Had Verizion send me a replacement phone. Same issue happens

My Router is the Google Onhub

Hi there, I'm having the exact same problem. Is there really a code programmed in my note 8 to drop wifi connection?!

I solved the problem by switching the LTE Beta off. I also inproved the quality of my network signal considerably. It appears when you have the phon set to "Mobile Networks" - "Network Mode to Automatic" the Beta (which is a pre-release) randomly pick up a signal, confused the device and not only shuts down wi-fi, also causes dropped calls. Since I have taken that action, I have not had a second's problem. Another factor was I returned the S-8 and took an S-8.1 which made a difference also.

I've had this problem for weeks with my Verizon S8+. It always drops wifi when I try to connect with my airport express at home, but works fine with every router I've tried away from home. All my other devices (including a Samsung tab A) work fine with my home router, so it's not the problem. I've tried all the workarounds in this thread (and all the many other threads related to the problem). But nothing has worked. I was excited to find a firmware update this morning, but it didn't make a difference.

I used to love this phone, but now I hate it.

Having the same issue here with my new s8+. My s7 Edge never did this. Did a new update each day so far but not one of the updates fixed this issue.

I have the same problem. I just got this phone and it worked fine until an update. I snooped through my settings after losing hope and hit " reset network settings ". I reconnected to my WiFi. And it worked with no issue. So far its going good, I'll update this if it stops working.

Mine was working until my last "update", now I have to manually turn on the wifi when I nned it. It stays on for a while or until I get out of range, but then when I come into wifi range again (say, at home) it won't automatically connect at all. This does sound quite suspicious and the fact there are 30 pages of this problem in just a couple of weeks and Samsung not offering any suggestions, answers or concerns shows to me they don't care. They got their money the day we bought the phone, so why spend money to fix it when they can offer you a "new, improved version" that just lines their pockets even more. When I do replace this S8 you can bet I will go back to LG where I had no problems. The only reason I foolishly changed was my wife wanted a bigger phone and Verizon was offering a buy one get one free (a rip off in itselfs, but that's another story).

I upgraded from S8 to S9 and it does not help anything. It is identical issue and it has something to do with Oreo update. S8 wi-fi used to work like a dream. Not anymore. S9 wi-fi has never worked.

Samsung don't take us serious even this problem on S9/S8 is reported in many country. I think we should make a petition and start to write article and share on Facebook and Twitter that everybody knows it! With a title same than don't buy Samsung phones! Then they will have to do something or loose money
