Galaxy S PhonesSo I am posting here because after research I do not see anyone with this issue and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on what to do to attempt to fix it.
What will happen is my phone will lose internet connection while connected to my Wifi. As shown in the screen shots below it has the Wifi Symbol along with an exclamation mark. When I go to the Wifi settings it states "Internet may not be available"
The only way to fix the issue is to turn the wifi off then back on. Now keep in mind that this does not happen all the time as It will happen spoardically throughout the day and there does not seem to be a specific app that causes this. This has happened while browsing the internet on multiple different browsers and it has happened while watching videos in applications such as Youtube, Twitch, Netflix, Hulu, etc.... This issue only seems to be affecting my galaxy S8 as the other devices on my network does not have this issue including my old Samsung S7 Edge.
What I have tried is the following in no particular order
- Turned the phone off/on
- Cleared browser cache
- Cleared the cache partition
- Reset my wifi connections
- Factory reset my phone
- Reset my router
- Verified my Router Firmware was up to date
- Had Verizion send me a replacement phone. Same issue happens
My Router is the Google Onhub

Galaxy S PhonesUsing Netgear ORBI RBK50 with latest frimware. Found that if I enable Guest Network in my router settings and connect to that instead I don't experience the connectivity issues. Have GS8 with latest firmware.

Galaxy S PhonesOk, I have tried everything and there is still no fix for me.
I work in IT so I have a little knowledge on how to set things up to network properly.
I've tried setting a static IP and registered the IP, MAC address and host name with the modem but still no luck.
I've even placed my IP outside of the DHCP range to make certain no other device could take the same IP and cause conflicts. Nothing.
I switched my modem from 'auto 20/40mhz' to just 20mhz.. Still no fix.
I've not got an option to switch 5g off on the modem, so I'm knackered there..
I'm going to chat with people on xda forums (seriously, check out xda for tech support for your phones. Much more help than ScamSung) and if I find a fix I'll let you all know.

Galaxy S PhonesThanks to you, you saved me for getting another phone. It's been like a two months that my wifi connection in my S8 keeps dropping. I did the reset factory on my phone which did not help because it's still keep dropping the signal.
Glad I found this forum and your answer. I follow your instruction tho we have different router as I am from Philippines, but it's still the same parameters turn off the 5ghz and as of now my signal on my phone is very good and haven't drop not even seconds on this youtube video I'm playing.
So Thank you!
S8user from Manila, Phl

Galaxy S PhonesI also have the same issue with my less than a week old S8.
It happens when the phone is away from the router, yet my Nexus tablet & Xperia Z3 is still connected properly..
I live in the Philippines, I thought it was just an issue with the software, but the fault still persists even after the update

Galaxy S PhonesYep same issue here with a Verizon S8+ I just got on Monday, only mine only does it on my office wifi. At home, I have not had this issue, at least not yet. Home router is an Apple airport time capsule.
