Galaxy S PhonesSo I am posting here because after research I do not see anyone with this issue and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on what to do to attempt to fix it.
What will happen is my phone will lose internet connection while connected to my Wifi. As shown in the screen shots below it has the Wifi Symbol along with an exclamation mark. When I go to the Wifi settings it states "Internet may not be available"
The only way to fix the issue is to turn the wifi off then back on. Now keep in mind that this does not happen all the time as It will happen spoardically throughout the day and there does not seem to be a specific app that causes this. This has happened while browsing the internet on multiple different browsers and it has happened while watching videos in applications such as Youtube, Twitch, Netflix, Hulu, etc.... This issue only seems to be affecting my galaxy S8 as the other devices on my network does not have this issue including my old Samsung S7 Edge.
What I have tried is the following in no particular order
- Turned the phone off/on
- Cleared browser cache
- Cleared the cache partition
- Reset my wifi connections
- Factory reset my phone
- Reset my router
- Verified my Router Firmware was up to date
- Had Verizion send me a replacement phone. Same issue happens
My Router is the Google Onhub

Galaxy S Phonesi have the same issue, the wifi didn't work only on my s8,while it works well on other devices
i've been reading all threads about this problem and didn't find any way to fix this
some of them could fix it by changing the ip settings to Static,i've try that and i got no results
then, still on the static option,i try to changed the ip address exactly the same with the devices which works well on the wifi, and voila problem solved

Galaxy S PhonesI have the same issue. I have tried static IP, guest network, and other suggested fixes here but none works. I then realized the problem I had was that the S8 has trouble with weak WiFi signal. It doesn't always switch to stronger signal correctly. When the signal is weak or lost, S8 doesn't always switch to a stronger signal (I have 2 access points) or recover when signal is back. It kept the channel opened but couldn't talk to it. So, I enabled the Developer Option "Allow Wi-Fi roaming scans" and rebooted. The phone now seems to recover itself after signal loss. I have tried this for a week. I still see the exclamation mark every now and then when I was at weak signal spots but it would recover automatically within a few seconds. It still has trouble switching to a stronger signal but at least I am not losing connection and have to fix it manually. For those who doesn't know how to get to the Developer Options, go to About phone and click Build number 7 times. Go back to Settings, then select Developer options.

Galaxy S PhonesI just tried Allow Wi-Fi roaming scans and it seemed to work without having to reconfigure the routers.
So will a download most likely fail with this option?

Galaxy S PhonesNot sure I understand your question about download. I no longer have problem with streaming with the Allow roaming scans option enabled. When the signal becomes weak and the exclamation mark appears, the connection recovers itself within seconds. Most of the time, I don't even see a pause during streaming.

Galaxy S PhonesSame thing happened to me with my note 5 (before I smashed it)
Got my s8+ 2 days ago and same thing, seems to be only on 2.4ghz band as my 5ghz works
Brand new sagem modem (4 days old) from telstra (aussie ISP)
The only thing that works is to forget the network and reconnect
Any fix would be appreciated
Model - sm-g955f
Baseband - g955fxxu1aqg5
Carrier - Vodafone AU
EDIT: went to advanced wifi settings assigned a static ip, seems to have fixed the problem

Galaxy S PhonesFinally root caused the Wi-Fi issues I've been having with my Galaxy S8 issues at home when all other wireless devices are not having issues. Samsung support was worthless originally saying that this is a new issue (then I mentioned the issue being all over the forums) and put me on hold and then came back and stated that a factory reset of phone would solve a software bug. This appeared to work... however not for long.
The short of it (full details below): I think the Galaxy S8 Wifi at 2.4Ghz is espscially prone to have interference by Bluetooth devices (unlike the S5 which I upgraded from). Once I turned off Bluetooth - no issues. I was able to root cause this becuase my router is single band @ 2.4Ghz. As long as bluetooth is off, no problems.
So.... I was scratching my head on why after the reset, this would work for a while, then just stop. What changed? The only thing I that changed is I turned on Bluetooth to connect phone to FitBit. After looking up what frequency Bluetooth operates at (~2.4Ghz), I had an my aha moment! I earlier researched that my router is only single band (2.4Ghz). Then I googled if Bluetooth will interfere with Wi-Fi and the answer is basically "yes" at the 2.4Ghz band. I turned off my Bluetooth and the connection has been stable and has been ever sense.
So I guess now I'm in the market for a dual band router and learned that the Galaxy S8's Wi-Fi is especially susceptible to Bluetooth interference unlike the Galaxy S5 which I replaced with the Galaxy S8.
This also explains why at work and a friends' homes I don't have an issue as most likely they have dual band routers and the 5Ghz band is being utilized.
