Galaxy S PhonesSo I am posting here because after research I do not see anyone with this issue and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on what to do to attempt to fix it.
What will happen is my phone will lose internet connection while connected to my Wifi. As shown in the screen shots below it has the Wifi Symbol along with an exclamation mark. When I go to the Wifi settings it states "Internet may not be available"
The only way to fix the issue is to turn the wifi off then back on. Now keep in mind that this does not happen all the time as It will happen spoardically throughout the day and there does not seem to be a specific app that causes this. This has happened while browsing the internet on multiple different browsers and it has happened while watching videos in applications such as Youtube, Twitch, Netflix, Hulu, etc.... This issue only seems to be affecting my galaxy S8 as the other devices on my network does not have this issue including my old Samsung S7 Edge.
What I have tried is the following in no particular order
- Turned the phone off/on
- Cleared browser cache
- Cleared the cache partition
- Reset my wifi connections
- Factory reset my phone
- Reset my router
- Verified my Router Firmware was up to date
- Had Verizion send me a replacement phone. Same issue happens
My Router is the Google Onhub
Solved! Go to Solution.

Galaxy S PhonesI just wrote out a huge response and because network dropped out, it went away... 😞 ...Response number 2. I have an orbi router and have the same issue with dropping my internet connection extremely frequently. No other devices have the issue on this network and my gs8 does not have the issue on other networks , so I can eliminate harware issues. I have tried the usual fixes, hard cycle modem and router... Switch to a static ip, gateway, and dns... Adjust router channels (even though I'm not in a conjested area)... Adjusted different settings on the phone... Ran a ping logger on modem to make sure isp wasn't dropping my internet connection... Any other suggestions?? Should I just get an iPhone? Was about to get a gear S3 but very unhappy with Samsung right now. Also bought my phone right before they put it on sale for like $300 less, and waited forever for bixby, in the mean time they wouldn't let me repurpose that button. The reason I left Apple was because of limiting my device potential and Samsung is doing the same thing now. You don't deserve the Linux kernel if you are going to restrict functionality!

Galaxy S PhonesI know this isn't exactly a FIX, but I set a guest network on my orbit and connected my s8+ to that and no drop outs. Not sure why but that did it for me.

Galaxy S PhonesI have the same problem with multi channel router Orbi. All I have to do for temporary is unplug all satellites, turn off guess network, and only use Orbi router. Secondly go to your stupid S8 settings/location: unselected everything from Improve Accuracy, and set Location Method at Phone only. Finally, set your phone wifi ip as statict number. That should fix it.
P.S: Samsung listen up, go fix your stupid confusing wifi with 5Ghz and multi channels networking, will you?

Galaxy S PhonesI have the same issues with my s8 and Google on hub router. It seems the solution is use the guest wifi Network, does not disconnect since I connected to it.

Galaxy S PhonesUpdates: S8 only has problem with 5GHz network. Therefore it should work perfectly if you put it on Guess Network (usually 2.4GHz).
PPS: Samsung, why don't you just admit this problem and fix it for good? Silent does not keep our loyaty to your products. So speak up, give us a plant how and when the problem should be resolved?
