Galaxy S PhonesHello cracked_backglass,
Thank you so much for posting. Welcome to the Samsung Community. We understand that your ear speaker is no longer working for your S9+. There are several things that could cause this to happen. First, make sure external things aren't plugged. Make sure your case, screen protector, or accessory is not obstructing the speaker.
Turn off Bluetooth by swiping down from the top of the screen to open the quick settings> tap the Bluetooth icon to turn off. Restart your device by powering off and then powering back on after 30 seconds.
Next, check to see if a malicious third party app has cause this issue. Safe Mode allows you to make this determination by disabling all installed apps. If the issue doesn't appear while the phone is in Safe Mode the problem is caused by a downloaded app, and it should be uninstalled. Press and hold the Power button> Tap Safe Mode>Your phone will restart in safe mode. Test your speaker. If it is still not working restart your device as normal to exit Safe Mode.
Now, you are advised to Back up your device entirely to perform a factory data reset. This reset will take your phone back to the original factory settings. You will then go through the initial set up. After you have backed up your device go to settings> Factory Data Reset> tap Factory Data Reset> tap Reset> follow the on-screen prompts. Your phone will reboot and now continue the initial set up for your Samsung phone.
Make sure that your device hasn't gotten wet. Problems with the speaker can occur is there is water in the speaker. We recommend drying your device and pat the earpiece.
If the troubleshooting is not helpful, the phone will need to be evaluated by a certified technician.
