Why don't samsung add high wattage charging

Why do samsung only put 25w and 45w since chinese phone companies put like 200w 10min charge and it sounds comfortable and I think it would be a good idea to do it on samsung too

It fries the battery. Plus they've been spooked ever since the Note7 debacle.

I agree with them being spooked. I think battery tech has got much better and if managed properly doesn't do much harm to the battery. I had a Oneplus 11 which charged at 80W. It only. Lost 4% of battery health over a year which isn't so bad. The batteries are split so each one only charges at an effective 40W.

Explain Apple then... Their Apple fanboys never had a phone catch fire in their pocket, yet they have limited their charging system the most. Charging any battery; the best scenario is slower the better. If you understood what happens to a phone that is close to a full charge attempting to store that last 20% of power, you would know why speed and heat are the worst things. The closest example is a data storage unit close to capacity. The last bits of data need time to find a good storage sector. When the battery has an issue finding that last bit of storage, the heat buildup initiates. This is why new phones give the ability to stop charging at 80-85%.

Well, some brands have better safety than others in this department. Oneplus tends to keep cool and technically charges each cell at a lower wattage than Samsung's 45w. There haven't been any wide reports of phone brands catching on fire since 2016-2017ish.

But... The issue is possible on all phone brands, even Apple. Most phone fires happen during normal use, not while charging.

Think about it. The two biggest companies, Samsung and Apple, both limit charging capabilities. The hyperspeed charging is a gimmick. I'm a boomer and have no need for lightning charging because I always have access to charging at home, in my car, and in my pocket. I always carry a 20,000 mAh portable Anker PD battery pack. I can charge my phone from 15% to 80% in 35-40 minutes with a quality charger and cable. People need to set important priorities and always be prepared. Once you get older, you'll realize that life isn't meant to be a race.

how do I get my device to use the full 45w charging capability? the oem cable that came with the device only gives 20w and my 100w aftermarket cable only gives 32w. I used two wallwarts and both produced the same results. both are rated well above 45w.

I cannot believe how ignorant the people in this thread can be. Samsung limits the charge speed because of: 1. They don't have the tech to speed up their charging. 2. They scared their **bleep** out when Note 7 failed. 3. Customers here are so bad at understanding technologies and could be easily fooled by the 25 watts "super fast charging". It is similiar for apple as well. All the guy that believes the hyperspeed charging is useless are fools that could not adapt the new world...
