Lost ability to add apps on home screen

Already set up that apps can be added but app list doesn't allow function to hold and add to page. This ability disappeared a few days ago. Also screens changed directions and some bookmarks disappeared. I made no changes to anything. Any clues?? Thanks

I'm pretty sure you tried this but did you go to settings,home screen ,allow home screen and app drawer

Go to Settings > Home screen and make sure that "Lock home screen layout" is toggled OFF.
