Photos and Photo albums disappeared

All of a sudden some of my photos have disappeared off of my device, even whole albums have disappeared. But, if i try to post on FB, the photos/albums show up. Where do they go and how do i get them back? My settings are to show all albums.

Maybe you're out of storage and it automatically deleted them

No, I'm not out of storage. And that doesn't explain why they would still be available when I go to post on FB.
