Open the apps drawer, tap the 3 dotsin the search bar, choose settings, scroll down to hide apps on home and apps screens. Choose apps you wish to hide, click done and exit.
Just hide it if you don't want to see it. Or ignore it. How much time do you spend staring at your app drawer and just resenting the fact that the Samsung Messages icon is sitting there. Eventually, it will go away anyway, as Samsung is removing it from updates.
