S21: Cannot view items in trash in Gallery App

I get this image when trying to view deleted items in my trash in the default gallery app. It doesn't happen for newly deleted items, but it broke all my other images before that point. Does anyone have a solution?

Yeah the reboot didn't work, I'm not sure how the files got corrupted tho

Is there any way to fix this? I can see the images when they're not expanded but I can't do anything else. I would like to restore them

Did you have them backed up on Google?

I don't think so, they were only in my gallery they never went to Google photos
