Add red boxes but in pictures on a Android phone?

Does anyone know how to add those red boxes but in pictures on a Android phone?

I can't figure it out. I chose red as the color then go to the Drawing tab but it's not red it's a gradient. I can't figure out how to turn off the stupid gradient and just use the color that I chose. Could they have possibly made this more difficult to use?? How did you get the red color in the second picture?

You can also use Samsung Notes then Auto-fix shapes option.
