After switching default mail to Google my whole screen changed

I switched my default mail to google mail instead of gmail and it changed my whole screen.  How do I get back to gmail and my old screen?  Does anyone know?  I already tried going into apps and setting gmail as my default and my screen is still wayyyy different.  I have to swipe down for my apps instead of up and all my widgets, widget pics, the whole layout is different. Anyone?  Sheesh, I need to stop exploring!

I fixed it by uninstalling an app, but now I'm trying to change my auto delete but still trying to find it. Thank you though!
