I keep seeing the green dot on the upper right of my S22 Ultra, indicating that Facebook Messenger is accessing my microphone, even though my "microphone access" is disabled AND I have set ALL Facebook Messenger permissions to "Not Allowed" in Settings, Apps, Messenger,  Permissions.  What gives?  Why am I seeing the green spy dot indicating that Messenger is having its way with my microphone, when I have done everything in my power to deny it?  It is quite disconcerting to see this 100 times a day.  I don't want Facebook or any app spying on me, or whatever they claim to be doing or not doing by accessing  my microphone.  Thanks!

Mine too! How do we stop this? It is a violation of our constitutional right to privacy.

@userV2PMF1PHjx Not sure if you have tried this or not.

  1. When you see the green dot, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. The green dot changes into a small icon. Click on that icon.
  3. You will see a message telling you which app is using the microphone. Click on that message.
  4. This opens the App permissions for that app and allows you to turn off microphone access.
  5. Click on Microphone in the list.
  6. Select Don't allow

I believe the green light technically indicates your CAMERA is on deck and ready to be used and/or accessed as Messenger IS an app that makes video chatting available.

It could be the keyboard that wants to access your mic. Go into the keyboard settings and select none.
