Galaxy S22I agree with @GaryB82. Google messages is superior if you want something functional on any device. Some people like Samsung for the themes, but I want my app to be functional. The spam message blocking is great, you never have to see another spam message, they are automatically routed to the spam folder. I can archive messages I want to save, so since they are out of sight, I don't accidentally delete them. If esthetics is important, you can pretty it up somewhat with the limited color themes that Google has (maybe someday they will get more). The ability to respond through a web browser on a computer means one does not have to type on a tiny keyboard.

Galaxy S22This really boils down to personal preference. Samsung Messages definitely has better customization options for its interface. Google Messages gives better support for RCS and other functionality. For me, the tipping point prompting me to switch to Google Messages was the feature that deletes (really just hides, but still gone from view) one-time passcode messages after 24 hours. Try both, as you can switch back and forth at will, and consider third-party alternatives like Textra (terrific customization but I don't think it supports RCS).
