Can't update S23+

So I have a (refurbished) S23+ is currently in One UI 5.1 (with its last security patch being from July 1st 2023), and I'm unable to software update it. Whenever I try to manually update it, it says the software is up to date, even when I try to update it via Smart Switch in my laptop.

It's fully unlocked and currently been used with AT&T, but it was originally a T-Mobile phone or at least that's what its IMEI shows me when I check it.

Has any of you had this issue before? If so, how did you fix it?

@LordBeoulf If it has T-Mobile firmware installed, it will always look for a T-Mobile update. Since you are using an AT&T SIM, it will never find a T-Mobile update.

The solution is to either flash the phone with AT&T firmware or temporarily install a T-Mobile SIM card.

I'm actually not sure if it has the T-Mobile firmware, because when the phone turns on it doesn't shows the T-Mobile logo (or any company logo other than Samsung's) as it normally does on other phones.

I did try with a T-Mobile Sim Card, albeit one that no longer had service, and it still didn't want to look for an update. I will try again with a new T-Mobile Sim Card to check if maybe that makes a difference.IMG-20241218-WA0003_1000055787_1734566021.jpgIMG-20241218-WA0006_1000055792_1734566030.jpg

If you use it with AT&T, then your software information screenshot doesn't show that you do. Also the phone didn't seem to have configured the sim card that it has inside correctly. When you have a few XAA in the beginning the phone is relying on an unlocked/not configured sim card profile. Put another carrier's sim card in and maybe device will show "refreshing sim" and then restart the device. Factory resetting device with your sim card in might help.

@LordBeoulf It looks like that firmware may actually be a Verizon load.

So should I try with a Verizon Sim Card then?

@LordBeoulf That would be worth trying.
