They want everyone to convert to Google Messenger and not use the regular messenger anymore. BUT I HAVE PURCHASED TOO MANY THEMES OVERTIME. AND GOOGLE MESSENGER DOES NOT DISPLAY THE color of the THEME IN THE GOOGLE MESSENGER:double_exclamation_mark: so technically if you use Google Messenger you wasted a lot of money purchasing themes from the Google store.. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP AND MAYBE I WILL SWITCH OVER TO GOOGLE MESSENGER :double_exclamation_mark::double_exclamation_mark::double_exclamation_mark::double_exclamation_mark:

Samsung had features that I miss in the Google app. In Samsung's app the messages could be sorted into category tabs and there was a trash can in case I accidentally deleted something I wanted to keep.

Here's a comparison that shows some of the other features of Samsung Messages.

Interesting. Wonder if they're getting out of the software biz for their phones. Seems they rely more and more on apps to do various things on their phones that should just work without an app. I guess some stupid patent or lawsuit might be to blame.

Everyone says they are getting rid of it but on my Flip6 downloading the independent app, I'm connected to RCS with Chat settings (via Jibe I assume because TOS and notices in app redirecting to Google pages about Jibe) and RCS works with iOS and Google Messages RCS users.

Not the case on my S24U which only has carrier advanced messaging option.. both phones are from AT&T.

Samsung,

When I buy a Samsung phone I want the option to use all Samsung apps. If I want to use Google apps, I'll get a Pixel phone. Please keep developing your apps, even the messaging app. I know Google made/supports Android but please give your users/supporters a choice to use Samsung Apps.

Thank you

It's Android you can use whatever you want.

Google is finally unifying messaging after over a decade of getting laughed at. Google messages on a Samsung device is a forked version not the actual Google version.
