Third-party Music apps and Android Auto?

Why can't I use an app other than Samsung Music on Android Auto? 

Some suggestions?

I use Spotify every day with mine.

OK, I have a music player similar to Samsung Music that I downloaded in the play store but I don't get the option on android auto.

Not every app is eligible to be used with Android Auto. I use Spotify and Amazon Music
