Always clear the cache after an update. Some heating is normal after an update, as the battery and processor are very active putting everything in place. If it continues to overheat, there may be other issues. Also, is it truly overheating or just getting warmer than normal? You can download Good Guardians snd the Thermal guardian module from the Galaxy store to help figure it out. I believe you also get an overheating notification if it was truly overheating. You can always remove the case while updating to help with heat dissapation.
