RCS disappeared from my Google messages

I have the S24 ultra on Verizon, and I use the Google messages app, solely. For months I had RCS messaging with a few different people that worked flawlessly and was great. then someone else i know got RCS on their iPhone last week and it was working between the two of us. Then suddenly the last 3 days, my phone now states that my device is not eligible for RCS???? 

This makes 0 sense. My app is updated, same with my software for the phone. I understand there are some specifics with user to user. But what's bothering me is that I did have it and it worked but now it's gone?

Thanks for all the replies. I checked for the Google play system update just now and it shows up to date. As far as system update it shows the last update was August 18, but this behavior just started within the past few days.

I unistalled the messages updates and that fixed it for me.

I got mine working... It was stupid. I basically made sure that the Samsung Messages app showed all of my Text history by setting it as the default app. Could not uninstall Google's Messages app under settings but you can "Uninstall Updates" for it. I did that and rebooted. Double checked that all my messages were still in the temporary default Samsung Messages app. Satisfied everything was there, I then set the non-updated version of Google Messages back to the default app and when I opened it up, RCS options were back and functioning. Force stopped it under App settings and went and ran the updates from the Play Store. Ran the app again and RCS was still functioning. Rebooted the phone, everything is still working and this was about 3 days ago.

Same here. I just un-installed updates then went back and updated the app. It works fine now. I didn't change default app beforehand or afterward. The only drawback I found is I lost all unique message tones for each contact I had them set for. Thanks!

This just happened to me as well!!! Finally We can send pictures back and forth with Apple users because they just got RCS and now Samsung has removed it for the Galaxy 24? What the **bleep** Samsung??????

Same problem.  Yesterday afternoon I suddenly couldn't send RCS messages, but SMS still worked.  Locked me out of all the group chats too.  An hour of chatting with Verizon and having them change things and me change things, no dice.  Finally did the uninstall updates on Messages, deleted the data and cache for the default app, and then reinstalled the updates and everything is back.  So weird.
