S24 Losing connection to Google Messages for Web when the Google Messages app is closed

My S24 has an issue with Google Messages for Web with the Google Messages app.  

If I close the app on the phone, the connection is lost and Messages for web can't find the phone.  As soon as I open the app, it connects.  Background data is on.  I also turned power saving off and no difference.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I have the S23 and having the same issue with my web browser (Chrome) and my Samsung tablet. This has been going on for months. I have to unlock the phone and open the app before the tablet or laptop will connect to Google Messages.

Having the same problem. It's so frustrating. I wish I could return my tablet because it was a selling point. Samsung messages doesn't even have RCS so it's practically useless.

Had the same problem with my S24 and found the following method to solve it:

Turn on airplane mode. Go to Settings, then Apps. Select Messages. Select Storage. Select Clear Data. Turn off airplane mode. Reopen Messages.

You should get a new setup screen at this point like it's the first time using it. Complete Device Pairing Setup using QR Code Scanning. It works great now.

Thanks, this seems to have def helped but I still get some disconnections at times. Weird, maybe some restarts & what not will work the kinks out.

Still no fix? Just upgraded to S24+ from an S20 and having this issue after no issues for years....
