The WiFi on my Galaxy S24 Ultra doesn't work properly on a per-app basis.

For example, while I can browse Twitter from the Chrome app, I can't use the Twitter app at all most days on my WLAN unless I switch to data over LTE. Spotify and Telegram have the same issue. The reception icon on my phone is full and the issue even occurs when the phone is right next to my access point. There is just almost no data going through. In the Twitter app, the posts and texts seem to load fine, but images and videos don't load at all or take minutes to load. Spotify sometimes shows the "no internet connection" warning even though I have perfect WLAN reception and Chrome is working fine too at the same time. If I leave an affected app open in the foreground for tens of minutes it sometimes starts working normally again.

My old S21 Ultra and my desktop PC have no connection issues at all.

I don't see a single indication that this is NOT a Samsung issue. If it was an issue with my environment, other devices like the S21 should be affected. If it was an issue with a specific app, it shouldn't be affecting so many apps. If it was a routing issue, then obviously the affected apps should have the same issues on multiple phones.

I'm convinced that this is on Samsung to fix. Not having properly working internet access on a smart phone is hugely frustrating.

 

Edit: I just found the superfluous "Intelligent WiFi" options and turned them all off. Especially "Prioritize real time data" just sounds like the perfect snake oil feature that would cause such grief. Seems to have fixed it for now but I won't know for sure until testing it for a few days.

Edit2: Changing the "Intelligent WiFi" settings didn't help.

Try resetting your phone network settings. It has worked for me, for now at least

From settings>>General
management>>Reset>>Reset Network settings>>Reset settings>>Tap on reset.

Thank you for your reply. After doing this, it worked again for a couple of hours, but then the bug fully resurfaced.

If I manually forget the network and reconnect, it also works for a bit until the issue comes back. Even my banking app is affected, so far the only apps not affected seem to be Google apps (Chrome, YT, Gmail).

I have the same issue, I reset WIFI/ Bluetooth settings...etc it all comes back after a short while. I've only had this phone for 1 week. So disappointed.

Well after a couple of days the issue came back. Apps again just don't get any data over WiFi unless you forget the network and reconnect or just keep re-opening the app and waiting for minutes. Only Google apps don't have the issue.

So, this smartphone still has unreliable WiFi. That kind of makes it the worst smartphone I ever used in my life. I'm probably forced to swap to literally anything else soon because even the cheapest Android phones have better WiFi support. I simply need my WiFi to work for banking and 2FA in general.

Hello all, thanks for reaching out in regards to this matter. Having certain apps not work with Wi-Fi stably can be a frustrating experience. It is possible that the app(s) themselves need cleaning. If the behavior is still present, and the Wi-Fi instability occurs with pre-installed apps as well, you can try Safe Mode to see if another third-party app may be responsible. You can test this with Safe Mode: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062983/

If the conditions continue under Safe Mode, or it only affects third-party non-pre-installed applications, it may be time to try a factory reset, assuming resetting network settings as @JimmyStixx outlined the steps for. If the troubleshooting is not helpful, the phone will need to be evaluated by a certified technician.
