Samsung Should Keep Al Features Free - Especially for Flagship Devices

I only recently realized that Samsung plans to start charging for Galaxy AI features in 2026, which is frustrating considering I bought my S24 Ultra without knowing this would happen. When we’re already paying $1,300+ for a flagship phone, AI features should be included at no extra cost—at least for flagship devices, if not all Galaxy devices.

Samsung has more than enough resources to keep these features free, but it seems like they just don’t want to. Other companies are making AI a core part of their experience without charging extra, so why should Samsung treat it as a paid add-on after just two years?

If you agree that Samsung should keep AI free for flagship users, or at least reconsider making it a paid feature, post about it and let them know. The more people speak up, the better chance we have of getting them to change their decision.

That's not necessarily the case. Samsung marketed the phone as AI-driven, positioning it as an AI-focused device. Alternatively, they could have emphasized hardware advancements, focusing on technological improvements rather than promoting AI capabilities and then revealing post-purchase subscription costs.

They are marketing it as AI capable with AI features.  Nowhere does it say the advanced AI features will be free or even be free forever.  No one wants to pay for anything anymore.  These are the same people who plunk down $1,000+ for a phone every year, instead of keeping their devices for the service life, and then complain about how expensive the phones are.  As stated, the basic AI will remain free, and the advanced features will incur a subscription charge at the end of the intro cycle.  Since Samsung has not announced which features will be paid access, y'all are getting bent prematurely. Not everyone who is buying the new phone is buying it strictly for the AI features, and not everyone will like or use the advanced AI features, those people will not subscribe.  You are five people out of thousands. Those who want it will either subscribe, decide they can live without it, or move on to a brand that gives it to them for free; but I can guarantee you, if a brand is giving it for free, it's not advanced or it will be inferior.

I do not know, since I deliberately chose a phone that did not have anything but the most basic AI features (assistants, etc.).  I don't want AI, and I want nothing to do with it, although I suppose I will get some of the updated AI features whenever my phone finally gets the OneUI7 update; and I sincerely hope my series is the absolute last to get it, since I am not liking what I see of the new design.

Maybe the phones should be cheaper if they are going to all you to pay for the phone to work as advertised

Maybe, but people are still plunking down the bucks for them - most doing it before even seeing the phone and its capabilitis in action.

I am real. Saying iPhone should give free iPhones because they're a big company is completely different from asking Samsung to let AI be free for a phone literally marketed around AI. Have a great day.

Actually, Apple is a multitrillion-dollar company, so there!

To achieve premium status, the AI should offer enhanced capabilities. For instance, the writing style options appear limited and overly restricted.

Exactly, and even then, honestly . We pay a lot for these phones and deserve all it has to offer. We're not even gonna talk about the fact that Samsung is a multi-billion dollar company that is continuously growing currently, even though the AI features are free right now, meaning they'll be fine leaving them free forever.
