Got these almost smudge like marks on my phone screen. They aren't scratches, but won't come off with a microfiber and distilled water. Never seen this on my S22 ultra.. The spots are smooth to the touch but definitely stand out. Maybe a coating on the screen thats causing an issue?

Not caused by the user...there are no olephobic coating on regular glass screen protectors to wear off. Consider yourself lucky that your coating hasn't worn off.Your troubleshooting skills are lacking my friend ...no offense. Normal use by any user shouldn't result in premature failure of the coating, especially if your cleaning the screen as directed with distilled water and a microfiber cloth

And your troubleshooting is spot on?  Something caused the breakdown (if that is even what it is), likely by some chemical getting on the screen and breaking down this coating, either via improper cleaning materials or by being near some of these that are airborne and getting onto the screen.  This is not Samsung's fault or responsibility.  If a screen protector can be used to defend against the issue, that 100% supports my statements.

Hopefully the S25 went to something different

Apparently not.  People in the S25 forums are also complaining about how they dirtied their screens as well.

Smudges can be cleaned off unless they happened from a liquid source getting on it that may be harmful to the screen. Have you tried 70% or less rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth or lens cleaners for glasses or camera lenses? Do not use alcohol directly, moisten a microfiber cloth with a little and gently rub the affected areas.

I think OP may be saying that the smudges are permanent. This phenomenon was noted on the S24U, where the oleophobic coating had worn off over time. But that was happening around the one year mark. If this is what's happening to the screen on the S25U after a month, it sounds like a potential warranty issue to me.

Oleophobic coatings help repel with oily/greasy touching and prevent fingerprints. It's not a protective coating. It does wear off after use and there are applications available to replace the coating. I have a Note 8, S21 Ultra and my S22 ultra and none have any scratches or blemishes.

Now could the screen itself be faulty, possibly when considering the one area that has a near perfect 90 degree angle.

But any liquid like lotion etc can harm the screen or something mildly caustic was set on the device unintentionally that could have left those marks. If Samsung doesn't cover, then the OP will have to pay for a screen replacement.
