call app "Recents" doesn’t show incoming AND outgoing?

"Recents" shows all incoming and outcoing calls **AND** messages. In the Call app, I don't care about messages, messages are not in context. I can pick "all incoming calls" or "all outgoing calls" - but not "all incoming and outgoing calls". Very irritating.

Messages?  You mean like calls to your voicemail?  Of course they count as outgoing calls, your voice mailbox is dialed.  If you are getting texted numbers in your call list, that's an aberration.  Those should/would never show up, as they don't involve the phone.

The "Recents" lists the people with whom I have exchanged texts on the Messages app. The Recents filter ... well, see the pasted screen snap. The filter can differentiate between "calls" and "messages"; why is there no option for "incoming and outgoing calls"?

Well, that's a new setting. Must be unique to the S24.  My recents menu only has "all calls", not "all calls and messages".  You are not wrong in that they should allow you to just select all calls.  People who get a lot of texts shouldn't have to slog through a listing of all the incoming message numbers - they can do that in their messaging app.  It may be helpful for some who may have deleted a text and now needs to find the number of that sender, but it should be a separate toggle -- all calls and all calls and messages, or even all messages.  Are you using the stock phone dialer?

Here's my filter on S24 Ultra and T-Mobile. Looks similar to yours except coloring.

Interesting, you both seem to have the same version, which is different from mine, yet we both still have the all calls option and no calls and messages. Maybe it has something to do with T-Mobile. I have T-M too.
