After the OneUI 8.5 upgrade, video chat with another android phone (even another Samsung phone with oneUI 8.5) fails. It keeps saying "video declined". If the other phone tries the same, they get a "video declined" error as well. This seems to work fine before the upgrade as I would make routine video call.

Just a side note, video calls through google Meet do still work however.

I really don't know a nice way to say it, so I'll just say get off the fanboy wagon. It's a Samsung update issue, why would you even think about blaming the carrier. Even if it was a carrier incompatibility issue it is Samsung's responsibility to work with carriers before the software is released to ensure updates are compliant.

I am unsure how to phrase this politely, that's simple hogwash!

Could you please clarify why this issue appears to be exclusive to AT&T's network, specifically with their Video over Internet (ViLTE) services? This is a proprietary service, distinct from Google Meet. My understanding of the process is as follows: Samsung incorporates the security patches provided by Google and addresses any bugs within their operating system. Once these steps are completed, the software is then transferred to the carriers. The carriers are responsible for conducting thorough testing of everything on their network, including their ViLTE services. If no issues are found, the carriers, not Samsung, then release the software to their customers. If a carrier were to identify a compatibility problem with their network and determine that it originated from the modem drivers (Qualcomm), they would then return it to Samsung for a fix. Since it was not returned to Samsung, it suggests that AT&T may have caused an issue with ViLTE on their servers. Both Verizon and T-Mobile offer this service to locked devices, and there have been no reports from their customers within the members app, only from AT&T customers.

Because not every phone has a video calling app.  The default video calling for Samsung phones (and most other Android phones) is Google meet.  The carrier may add a video calling app (as AT&T does), and it is up to the carrier to ensure update compatibility with their apps.  That's one reason why the updates go through the carriers.  That AT&T didn't do this is squarely on them, NOT Samsung.

I'm having the same issue. Phone just went through the update & now I cant video call with my mother. I liked being able to just video from the phone, without having to do Google meet. I hope they fix this issue soon.

It's the UI 8.5 software issue. The camera permission for the default phone app is completely missing. I can't even go to the camera permissions itself and give the app permission, it's not showing on there as well.

I walked in the store and the guy said AT&T is getting rid of Samsung messenging and Video calling and forcing Samsung users to use Google Messenger and Google Meet. I just turned this 25 ultra on in January and it said if I wanted to use Samsung for texting all of my chat history would be gone so I switched to Google messenger. Now after reading this thread today, I googled "Is AT&T getting rid of Video calling for Samsung phones?" And it said yes along with messenger. It said older Samsung phones won't be affected and some had it removed as early as last year.
