Timer in the Now Bar when locked

Timer on the now bar just says "timer" and doesn't show the countdown unless I unlock the phone. 

Edit: show content needs to be enabled for lock screen notifications in order for the timer to show up properly.

I also clean out cache in large apps periodically.

A third-party app offers the convenient option of clearing all app caches with a single tap.

I totally spaced on that step after updating my device. 😅 I'm do it right now.

It's actually an even dumber fix. I have show content off for lock screen notifications, which apparently also impacts the now bar for things like a timer. When I turned show content on, now bar shows the timer.

Who would have thought that would apply to the now bar and timer? But I guess it makes some kind of sense.

Considering how the now bar tells me to leave for my commute about 30 minutes too late because it doesn't check the traffic, I'm finding that turning it off entirely would be almost as useful for most things.
