Galaxy S25Oh my god
I waste my time for the past 35hrs just trying to restore whatsapp from s23 ultra to s25ultra
There was no luck same issue
Tried Google
Local backup
Chat transfer
All were unsuccessful
Thought I will go to a mobile store as might I get extra experience, wasted 4hrs, then he told that yesterday one customer came with the same issue and was not able to fix
Finally decided to search the net for similar issue and I found that many users having the same issue and whatsappp has already acknowledged the issue and stated they are working on it but with no timeline
Currently decided to keep my old phone running and mirroring whatsapp on my new device

Galaxy S25Perfectly put. I feared I was going insane until I searched online and found that the majority of S25 Ultra users are having this exact same issue. I'm wondering if it's a Samsung software problem or a Whatsapp software problem?
See this thread here. It's great the companion sharing works but I'm currently out of Whatsapp verification codes for the next 24 hours due to so many repeated fails trying to "Transfer chats". How can we get this to Samsung's attention??

Galaxy S25It's simple temporary solution:
1. When it stuck at 99% restore, immediately restart the S25 Ultra. And you will have all your previous from the backups. Now what you have to do is manually copy your Media from your old phone (step 2)
2. The easiest way to copy your Media files is to use a USB drive. Use My files app on yourold device and copy rhe following:
Internal Storage/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media
Copy that folder from your old phone to your USB drive and then use it replace the S25 Ultra's Internal Storage/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media folder.
Restart your phone.

Galaxy S25I am facing the same issue in India, have contacted Samsung Support on Whatsapp, Helpline, CEO desk - but no resolution till now. I have even visited the BKC store, and 2 other service centres !
Can anybody please help ? I have a 70 GB backup and need to restore with MEDIA. Can't do without it !
Any perfect working resolution ?

Galaxy S25Good to hear. I've reached out to Whatsapp support (useless AI repeat bot), Samsung, and my mobile carrier. We just need to keep making as much noise as possible as this needs to be fixed ASAP. It would be great if Samsung can convey the issue to whastapp as I will not use the S25 Ultra until my whastapp can be restored. Thanks everyone for making this issue gain attention and hopefully a fix will be released soon!

Galaxy S25For god sake, samsung and whatsapp. Fix the restoration issue... Cant restore by gdrive not even by transfer chat. Not by pc transfer. Cant use s25u at all. So annoyed

Galaxy S25Same here I have to hold on to my S22U because of that. Now I have a phone that stays at home because I also carry a 16PM, therefore I can carry three phones. Samsung, Google and WhatsApp must figure this out
