Customizable Notification Sounds for Applications on Galaxy Watch

Hi!

I'd like to suggest an improvement for the notifications on the Galaxy Watch. Currently, it's not possible to customize notifications so that we can receive alerts without sound, which can be a bit annoying, especially in everyday situations. For example, I receive several WhatsApp notifications and a few from Google Calendar, but both with the same sound, which ends up being irritating. Every time I hear the sound, I think it's something urgent, but it's just a WhatsApp message reply.

My suggestion is to allow us to choose whether we want to receive notifications from specific apps with or without sound, without affecting how they appear when raising the wrist. This functionality is already available on many Android phones, where you can mute notifications from certain apps, and I believe it would make a big difference in the daily use of the Galaxy Watch, providing more comfort and control over notifications.

This way, we could continue receiving notifications visually, but with the option to turn off the sound for less urgent apps, like WhatsApp, and keep the sound alert for important events, like those in Google Calendar.

I have a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, and this is just one of two things I find annoying about the watch.

Thank you for your consideration!

If you choose silent notifications for any app on the phone, it will be silent on the watch. The custom sounds may not because, as I understand it, the watch has different sound files. I just keep the sound off on the watch as well, doncr I don't need to hear my wartch tinkling at me, nor do those around me.

Neither of your two responses (before and after editing) worked or made any sense. I conducted the tests, and here are the results:

1. For the first response:

"You can turn them on by going to settings/notifications/advanced settings/manage notification categories for all apps."

R: This configuration, "manage notification categories for all apps," does not exist. My device is a GW6C, currently running One UI version 6.0 and Wear OS 5.0, located in Brazil with the PT-BR language setting.

2. For the second response:

"If you choose silent notifications for any app on the phone, it will be silent on the watch"

R: It doesnā€™t make sense because the watch displays notifications based on the Samsung Wearable app and its plugins reading notifications from the phone. Whether or not your phone played a sound for the notification doesnā€™t matterā€”the app sends the command to the watch to deliver a notification without any sound parameter. This is a feature that should be added to the watch itself, rather than depending on phone settings. Still, for the sake of thoroughness, I tested what you suggested and had no success.

Unless the features you mentioned are unavailable for my region or software version, the requested feature remains valid.

Thank you for trying to help.

Well, notification categories only exist on the phone, not the watch, but carry over. Sorry I didnt make that clearer. Any notification for apps on my phone that I allow to my watch that I still want to see but not be bothered by, I set to silent on the phone and they do not vibrate on my wrist, but I see the notification dot. Truth be told, I do not know if they actually make a sound on the watch, as I have my watch volume off for everything except music and thats only because I listen to music through buds and the volume has to be on.

Well, I also looked for notification categories on the phone (Samsung Wearable App) and couldnā€™t find them either. I believe you might feel that the notifications donā€™t bother you because your watchā€™s volume is turned off. I keep all the volumes on my watch active and have already explored several settings trying to achieve the goal I mentioned in my post. I also tried silencing the notifications through the native Android system settings on my phone, but without success.

Its not in the wearable app, it's in the phone settings.
In any case, you are not alone in this request, as I've seen various other posts on it. Apparently I am in the minority about not wanting my watch to make noise.1737075243989.jpg1737075335880.jpg

Actually, my phone has the same settings as yours, but as I mentioned, I believe your perception is due to your watch's volume being set to zero. In the tests I conducted, it didnā€™t make any difference on the watch.

Thank you!
