I do not think it's the watch itself, I think there's some disconnect between the watch and the phone that occurred recently. Since there is no companion app on the watch for Messenger, the replies must go through the connection to the phone from the watch, not just out via mobile data on the watch.  If there was a companion app, the messages would go out on their own via mobile data or wi-fi depending on how the watch was connecting to the outside world.  It's just a guess on my part, though, but I think it makes sense. Doesn't explain how the messages are getting to the watch in the first place unless it's a return response error. Like the roach motel, things get in but can't get out. šŸ˜€

It happens that I just got an incoming message from FBM and when I tried to respond from the watch, there was a very brief flash message (blink and you don't see it) that the connection could not be completed, then it pretended to send, but went nowhere and the response remained on my watch screen unsent. So, looks like it's definitely not communicating with the phone on the outbound.  If it continues, this will be a problem for me, as certain of my contacts prefer communicating with me via FBM and if I have to drag my phone out its nest to respond, it kind of defeats the purpose of having the watch.

It is also possible that the fact that we were ever able to respond to FBM messages was the bug, since there is no companion app on the watch to the Members app and, while I can see the notifications on the watch, there is no way for me to respond to them - I only get the "show on phone" option. Do you think it's possible that this is a plot by Samsung to force Meta to make a companion app for the watch--get people howling about no longer being able to respond?

That's possible, I do know that Messenger will work on the watch, I have had Messenger installed but it quit working a while back, I am not sure how Samsung could do it without an update to the watch

You know, it just may be a Google cloud server error. It just occurred to me today that a couple of times in the past when I was connected to my phone via BT, but had wi fi and data off on the watch, when trying to respond to a message, I kept getting an error message that Google services couldn't be reached. At the time, I thought it was because I was using Google keyboard on the watch and using speech to text to respond, but maybe responses between the watch and phone use the Google cloud server. Google cloud is used for remote connection. In any case, for this problem to be fixed, one of these entities needs to decide where the problem lies and who needs to fix it. Therefore, it probably should be reported to everybody.

If this suddenly starts working for anyone again, please let us know.  It's really weird that I can actually receive the message on the watch but not respond to it.  I  put in an error report with Samsung.

I have the galaxy watch 5 and never had issues responding to facebook messenger messages on the watch. My watch literally just updated yesterday, and now I can't respond to the messages on messenger. I receive them but like you guys said, I respond and it says message sent but then it doesn't show up in the app on my phone. I was using the galaxy S20 FE as of last week but just upgraded to the S24 and now of course having this issue. I don't think it is the new phone's fault, I think it was the update on my galaxy watch that occured yesterday. Whatever it is though, very annoying as I'm on group chats on facebook messenger and now I have to respond on my phone while I'm at work. I will try to report this to both Samsung and Facebook and hopefully they resolve it quickly because this is unacceptable.
