Not getting text messages on Galaxy watch via cell service

I have a Galaxy Watch model SM-R805U.  Recently I stopped getting text messages on my watch over cell service (Verizon) when away from my Galaxy phone.    I was getting them and they stopped coming through.  As soon as I get back within Bluetooth range of my phone they all come through.  I still get phone calls on my watch but not text messages.  I have checked all setting and cannot figure out if something changed.  Any ideas?

Have you checked whether mobile data is on?

Yes Mobile data was on.  I reset my watch and that took care of the problem.
