Sleep Tracking not working(it works but its highly inaccurate)

After many months of trying to fix this, its still not accurate. I really should give up because its so frustrating trying to get it to work only to be disappointed. Shame on Samsung. This is a major reason why I have the phone and a galaxy watch 5 pro. I've called tech support several times and tried different things, to no avail.

 

I also had problems when I had my s23 ultra. I switched to the new phone in February 2024.

 

My current phone is a Galaxy S24 Ultra 1gb unlocked.

 

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK, it seems I've found the solution, for now. Follow these instructions: I didn't do Fix 9. I did 1 through 8. Then I slept on it. It tracked perfectly. I didn't need to reset the watch.

  1. Clean your watch and wrist

Ensure that the BioActive sensor on the bottom surface of your watch is not blocked by dust or sweat. Clean it gently with a soft cloth.

2. Charge your watch before sleep: Make sure your watch has ample charge before you go to sleep to prevent it from shutting down mid-sleep.

3. Try wearing the watch differently

Try wearing the watch on a different wrist or higher up your sleeve to see if it improves the accuracy of the sleep tracking.

Fix 1: Restart your Watch

Restarting your watch can help fix lingering issues that might have been caused due to a recent update to the Samsung Health app or your watch itself. Here’s how to do it.

1. Press and hold the Power button on your Galaxy Watch. 

2. Tap on the Power icon at the top.

3. Once your watch has powered off, press and hold the Power button again to turn it back on. 

Fix 2: Allow Sensor Permissions

1. Swipe up from the bottom of your watch face to open the app drawer.

3. Scroll down and tap on Apps.

4. Tap on App list.

5. Find Samsung Health on the list and tap on it.

7. Do the same for the Health Platform app.

Fix 7: Update the Samsung Health App

You must keep the Samsung Health app up to date to make sure that it works optimally and tracks your sleep accurately. Follow the steps below to check for and install Samsung Health updates.

1. Swipe up from the bottom of your watch face to open the app drawer.

2. Tap on the Google Play Store icon.

3. Scroll down and tap on Manage apps.

4. Tap on Update all.

5. Restart your watch after the update has been installed.

Fix 8: Update your Watch’s Software 

Likewise, it is also important to keep your watch’s software up-to-date to ensure optimal performance without any hiccups. Follow the steps below.

1. Swipe up from the bottom of your watch face to open the app drawer.

2. Tap on the Settings app.

3. Scroll all the way down and tap on Software update.

4. Tap on Download and install. Make sure your watch has the location turned on and is connected to the charger.

5. Wait for the “Copying update…” to complete.

6. Restart your watch once the update has been installed.

 

Fix 9: Reset your Watch 

As a last resort, you can reset your Galaxy Watch to fix any persistent issues with sleep tracking. Note that all your data will be lost during the process, including your settings, watch faces, downloaded apps, and music. Make sure to take a backup before proceeding.

1. Swipe up from the bottom of your watch face to open the app drawer.

2. Tap on the Settings app.

My Active4 was giving funny numbers after an update several months ago, but seems to have settled down (most of the issues were in deep sleep tracking). How long have you had your watch, and been wearing it at night to track sleep?

I've had the Galaxy Watch5 Pro since August 2022. I used it with my s22, and now my s24. I wish I could get it to work reliably.
