Unable to back up Galaxy watches manually on One UI 5, backs up via Smart Switch

Why in the world would you take away the ability to back up our watches manually in the Wearable app? Make it make sense, I have to wait for what is now "PERIODICALLY" to back up my watch, how often is periodically? If you switch to store backups to Samsung Cloud, how does that work, when does that happen?

If anyone knows the answer please let me know!

For several months I haven't been able to back up my watch, I get notices every week saying my watch hasn't been backed up for 7 days, I know it was somehow switched to smart things but when I go into that I see nothing about backing up my watch, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unless they changed something with watch 5, The setting for backup is in the wear app under accounts and backup. The backups are automatic. Are you signed into your Samsung account?

Yes, and I think it was changed several updates ago, it's no longer in the wearable app

I believe what happened several updates ago is they removed the option to manually backup the watch. Now as stated by realaud, the updates are automatically done usually in the wee hours of the morning, by SmartSwitch. Make sure you have Save backup to Samsung account storage turned on.

I just checked and I do, but I always get a message that my watch hasn't been backed up in 7 days
