Having same exact issue. Samsung support said to exchange it. I think I'm just returning.

Just going to say if you search "overheating" in the Galaxy watch subreddit you'll see that this is a legacy issue dating back through various iterations of the Samsung watch. I am returning mine in favor of a Garmin. No excuse Samsung again this is a legacy issue. This was never an issue on Apple watch for me. It's your hardware/software and something billed as LTE should have been thoroughly tested before it hit the market.

I can certainly understand your frustration with the watch overheating. Here is an article with some  factors that can affect the temperature of the watch.  https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00076952/

Have you tried performing a reset on the  watch? https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00084702/

Also check to see if the software is up to date. If the watch is still overheating and not charging, then it would be recommended to have the watch evaluated by a certified technician. You could also contact your place of purchase to see what options they may have available. You can use the following link below to request service. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/
