Ok, so my QN90C updated to the 1430 update without me telling it to. That aside, I was able to update the firmware on the Q990C soundbar to the 1004 version (was 1002). It seems as tho Samsung finally fixed all of the 1402/1410 dropout issues and changed how the tv selects Q-Symphony with 1430 update.

however, E-arc set to “auto” still forces “stereo PCM” to any codec other than ATMOS if selected, so that’s still kit fixed.

but this post is to see if anyone else had their q990c REMOVED from SmartThings saying it was removed from my account because another “user”!?!  I’ve reset and added the q990c at least 20 times now, reset Pw on everything Samsung related yet it’s still being from SmartThings!

is anyone else having this problem or was I hacked or something?! 6 out of 10 times I can get re add the bar after reset or right away. But then it gets removed again! Help!

It sounds like you’re experiencing two separate issues with your Samsung Q990C soundbar and SmartThings integration after the recent updates.

  1. eARC PCM issue: Even with the firmware updates, the fact that the TV is still defaulting to stereo PCM for any codec besides Dolby Atmos suggests that this might still be a known bug or limitation in how the TV and soundbar handle eARC settings. You may want to report this to Samsung Support, as it might require another firmware patch to fully address.

  2. SmartThings Device Removal Issue: The soundbar being removed from SmartThings is definitely unusual. It could be related to:

    • Multiple Accounts: Make sure no other user is trying to control the soundbar or link it to their account, as SmartThings sometimes gets confused with multiple users.
    • Network Glitches: Ensure your soundbar and SmartThings app are on a stable network connection, as connectivity issues can cause devices to disappear.
    • SmartThings Sync Issues: Try logging out of SmartThings on all devices, resetting the soundbar to factory settings, and re-adding it. Ensure no other devices are trying to control the soundbar during this process.

If these steps don’t help, it could be worth contacting Samsung Support for both issues, as there might be a bug in how the Q990C integrates with SmartThings post-update. sonic happy hours

Thanks guys. It seems as tho the q990c being removed from SmartThings has stopped now for the passed couple weeks. There should be no other users on our network or anywhere near any way of connecting to the q990c/SmartThings. I do live in a townhouse and there are lots of networks around and I’m sure someone else has a Samsung soundbar.. but no one outside of our network should be able to even see the q990c, right?  I question this because even tho the q990c is connected to my q90C and to MY SmartThings, I recently moved a 50q60r downstairs and the q990c shows up as an option to connect to that tv. Is that normal? You’d think once the soundbar is connected to one tv, it wouldn’t keep broadcasting, right? There’s no way of hiding/turning off the wifi broadcasting for the q990c that I know of… but if it’s broadcasting out, any neighbor could be trying to connect it it.. I’d think Samsung planned for this kind of issue.
mat any rate, I recently did a full reset on the q990c, updated to the 1004 firmware via usb and it seems to be doing ok.

thank god, no more speaker cutouts, wifi cutouts/disconnects, etc. SmartThings is updated to their new layout as well.

No just waiting to hear if the new firmware 2000.2 for the q90C is safe to update!
