Kitchen and Family HubThe child lock on our new Bespoke refrigerator keeps mysteriously turning on, and we don’t know how/why, which then disables features like the water pitcher filling or the ice maker working.
Is there a way to disable or permanently turn off the child lock feature?

Kitchen and Family HubHi there, Thanks so much for asking about this. It is likely the child lock button is accidentally being pressed when the refrigerator is in use. If you'd like to provide the full model number for your unit, I'd be happy to look up specific information about the child lock feature on your model. However, it is not currently possible to permanently disable the child lock feature on Samsung refrigerators.

Kitchen and Family HubSo this is a bit odd as the child lock is only supposed to lock the panel (per page 40 in the user manual: https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/202212/20221216130939356/FDR_RF8000B_DA68-04402B-01_EN... [the manual also states that once this is engaged, the panel will lock after a minute of inactivity and you'll need to unlock it each time])
However, the ice maker and auto pitcher shouldn't be disabled when the lock is on as the lock is just for the panel. I suggest unplugging or flipping the circuit breaker off for a few minutes to reset the fridge.
If the troubleshooting steps did not help above then this will require service, you have a couple of options based on your warranty.
- If your unit was recently purchased, you can check with your retailer on their return/exchange processes.
- If you have an extended warranty you can reach out to them to have service set up.
- If you're within the one-year warranty, you can Private Message one of our moderators or one of our other support channels with your full model and serial number to have service set up
