I have a windows 10 PC with a GTX 1080 Ti. My previous set up was the Q990D with an old curved Samsung 4K TV. I had the hdmi cable from the gpu to the sound bar, then a hdmi cable from the sound bar passthru to the curved TV. This worked ok and the Dolby app recognized the Q990D as an atmos device and it worked, sorta (rear sides didn't work).

I just replaced my old curved TV with the S90DD from Costco. Now everything is messed up. Both my HDMI cables are 2.1 48 gbps.

1. Atmos is not recognized no matter the hdmi order. There is no spatial sound option for dolby atmos. Reinstalling the Dolby Access app make no difference. The Atmos option is just gone. Both the TV (S90DD is 2.1.2 audio) and soundbar are both official atmos products so I don't get it. Different sound settings of QSymphony, soundbar only, or TV only make no difference. HDMI eARC is set to Auto as is Digital Output. And Signal Plus is set to on across all 4 hdmi ports. Not only that, but all sound is messed up. The channels make no sense. Windows auto selects stereo. My only other option is 5.1, which is horribly busted. All sound, including LFE, comes out of all speakers,  no matter which speaker icon I click. This makes playing any game horrible. Reinstalling or attempting to uninstall the nvidia audio driver does nothing. It always returns and the Microsoft audio driver disappeared.

2. Even with game mode on, I can't achieve 144 Hz. It's always limited to 120. All options in windows and nvidia are limited to 120 and that's it.

3. VRR is not an option anywhere. All the guides I've found refer to options I simply don't have. There are no g-sync or VRR options anywhere.

Current setup is Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti > HDMI 2.1 cable > HDMI 1 on S90DD, HDMI 3 eARC on S90DD > HDMI 2.1 cable > eARC on HW Q990D

Flipping it back (gpu to sound bar to TV) makes no difference.

Samsung customer support chat doesn't help. I was told that upgrading my TV would fix my previous atmos issues with the rear sides not working on the Q990D. Now that I have a compatible TV, it's all messed up. When I contacted them again, they said my PC is the issue. Atmos worked on it before so that makes no sense.

UPDATES:

1. I got atmos back, kinda. I had to uninstall the Dolby Access app and instead install an older version from some archive site. That put the "atmos for home theater" options back in spacial sound. Atmos now works perfectly, including cloning the side channels to the rear sides too, which I could never do before. To do this, I have to disable QSymphony, and change eARC to pass thru instead of auto. However, any non-atmos content is still messed up. All 3 speakers on the rear speakers activate with the side channels, and LFE doesn't work at all. If I have QSymphony, then every channel (including rears) plays out of the TV too, which defeats the purpose, and there's lag too making it awful. However, if I'm watching or playing stereo content, then QSymphony works. I'm mad that QSymphony doesn't work with atmos on two atmos products. A reason why I got the DD warehouse version was for the additional 2 atmos speakers on the TV, but I can't even use them right!

2. I figured out why I max out at 120hz. My 1080ti's hdmi port is too old so it maxes out at 4K at 120hz.

3. Still trying to find out to force VRR options in Nvidia control panel or windows...
