I bought this screen on the used market. I'm very happy with the image quality, but there's an awful purple haze on the edges, with a green tint in the middle. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've heard terrible things about Samsung customer service, and want to avoid wasting my time if I can help it. I'm no stranger to working on home electronics, but it's seems like the only solution is to get used to it.

Sorry to say it appears the screen lighting is going bad and either the screen needs replaced or repaired you would need to contact a service center to get it checked to see what the cause is.

The purple haze on the edges and green tint in the middle of your Samsung TU7000 Crystal UHD TV could be a result of a few potential issues, especially with a used TV. Here are some possible causes and solutions:

1. Backlight Bleeding or Panel Defects:

Backlight bleed can sometimes cause color distortion at the edges or corners of the screen, leading to purple or green tints, especially noticeable in darker scenes.

Solution: Try adjusting the TV's backlight settings. Go to Settings > Picture > Backlight and lower it to see if the issue improves. If the problem is severe, it could indicate a defective panel, which may be difficult to fix without replacing the screen or panel.

2. Picture Settings Adjustment:

The green tint could be due to improper color temperature settings or picture modes.

Solution: Go to Settings > Picture and try setting the picture mode to Standard or Movie. You can also adjust the White Balance or RGB settings to reduce the green tint and help with color accuracy.

3. HDMI Cable or Input Issue:

Sometimes, a faulty HDMI cable or signal input can cause color issues, especially on used TVs.

Solution: Try using a different HDMI port or swapping out the HDMI cable to see if that resolves the problem.

4. Software/Display Calibration:

You can attempt a reset to default picture settings. Go to Settings > Picture > Reset Picture Settings to return to factory settings and see if that corrects the issue.

5. Possible Need for a Panel Replacement:

If the issue persists, and you've tried all of the above, it's possible that the panel itself is damaged. This would be the most difficult issue to fix on your own, as it may require professional repair or replacement of the panel.

Avoiding Samsung Customer Service:

If you’re trying to avoid Samsung customer service, you could consider searching for local TV repair shops that specialize in screen calibration or panel issues. They may be able to fix the issue without the hassle of going through Samsung's support.

Given that your TV is used, if the purple haze and green tint are the result of panel damage, it may not be easy to resolve without replacing parts.
