Ok, so here is the situation with my Samsung 57” Odyssey Neo. Since I got it last October it has been intermittently displaying artifacts (see the video) on the screen.
- It does not happen every time I boot, it happens occasionally, but much more frequently when using display port to connect than HDMI
- It does not ever seem to happen in the middle of a session, it is either happens quite soon after booting or not at all
- At first, I thought it was my video card/cable but I have tried about 5 different cables (3 HDMI and 2 display port – generally with the highest spec I can find on Amazon) and have used 2 entirely different systems (one running a 3080 and now a 7900xtx) and the problem eventually shows up again
- Unplugging and then plugging the video cable in from the computer seems to solve the problem for a given session
- The problem seems to occur at all refresh rates 60, 120 and 240, but switching refresh rates on the monitor while it is happening seems to make it go away
- I am running the current firmware 1005.3
- Samsung sent out a technician who saw the problem and replaced the main board and then when that did not solve the problem replaced the screen but neither change has fixed the issue
I am at a loss as to what could be causing the problem but any insights anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
