Cant conect to my shared folders on the network. There is no app for that? VLC is not supported by Tizen? MX Player? any other player that can browse the local network shared folders?

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues playing files from your True NAS server on your local network. Let's try to troubleshoot the problem and find a suitable solution.

  1. Check Network Connectivity: First, ensure that your Samsung smart TV and True NAS server are connected to the same local network. You can verify this by checking if both devices are assigned IP addresses within the same subnet.

  2. Check Sharing Settings: Make sure that the folders containing the media files on your True NAS server are properly shared and accessible over the network. Double-check the sharing permissions and settings to ensure there are no restrictions preventing your TV from accessing the files.

  3. Supported File Formats: Confirm that the media files you are trying to play are in a format supported by your TV. Samsung smart TVs usually support a wide range of formats, but it's worth checking the user manual or Samsung's support website for the specific TV model to see the supported formats.

  4. DLNA: Many smart TVs, including Samsung models, support the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) protocol, which allows devices to share media files over the local network. Ensure that the DLNA server on your True NAS is enabled and correctly set up. You may also check if your TV has DLNA client functionality.

  5. Alternative Media Players: If VLC and MX Player are not supported on your TV's Tizen operating system, you can explore other media player apps available on the TV's app store. Some media players might have better compatibility with network shared folders. Search for apps that support SMB (Samba) or NFS (Network File System) protocols, as these are commonly used for file sharing.

  6. Third-Party Streaming Devices: If your TV still has issues accessing the shared folders directly, you can consider using a third-party streaming device (e.g., Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV) connected to your TV. These devices often have better support for network file sharing and can stream content from your True NAS server.

  7. Firmware Updates: Ensure that both your Samsung smart TV and True NAS server have the latest firmware updates installed. Sometimes, software updates can resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance.

  8. Local Playback: As a last resort, you can copy the media files you want to play from the True NAS server to a USB drive or an external hard drive. Then, connect the storage device directly to the TV's USB port to play the files locally.

Remember that specific device models and software versions can affect compatibility and features, so it's essential to refer to the user manuals and official support documentation for your TV and True NAS server. If the issue persists, you may want to reach out to Samsung's customer support or True NAS support for further assistance.

This worked! I've installed emby plugin on my TrueNAS server, configured a mount point so the jail can access to the movie folder within the server and then configure the library in emby. After check it works on the web browser I enabled DNLA server on emby. Now emby is shown automaticaly in TV sources and videos are played great.
