How do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?
So with our 2017 televisions, like the model UN55MU6290, the TVs do not have HDMI auto-detect in the same way that older models do. It does not detect the source and automatically name it, you must choose the name itself. If the TV recognizes that the named source has been "disconnected" then the TV will forget the named source and you will have to rename the source once it's reconnected. In this case, it seems the TV is recognizing that the PS4 is being disconnected rather than just powered off. Can you confirm that the PS4 is not being unplugged when you power down and this happens?

2018 QLED 75” with invisible cable & latest firmware - only cable box attached ... mid show TV randomly switches input to the default streaming feature Ssmsung ships with TV. Driving us crazy! Thoughts? This bug still hsnging around a year later even on top of line 2018 sets?
On the new 2018 QLED top 3 models anyway, they do not have the option to disable auto hdmi regrettaby (since we only have one device connected that would be perfect if it existed in the firmware!). Only thing is Anynet+/CEC which is disabled.
I came here because I too am having this problem. Often when my Xbox goes to sleep my TV has to configure it every time I turn it on and the TV sees that it is active. It's an inconvenience because I have to place it back on the home bar every time it does this. My Nintendo Switch console is not auto detected so I have to rename it every time and when it goes to sleep the TV forgets the label and I have to relabel it and place it on the home bar every time I wake the device.
Same goes for my PC... The TV goes through a lengthy process everytime I reboot (usually end up in Windows at the desktop by the time it finishes and I miss the whole BOOT process).
I don't plan to change what devices I have hooked up to the TV so why on Earth does it keep forgetting my devices and attempting to redetect them every time? It's frustrating. I read somewhere there's a combination of buttons I can press to disable auto detected but that has not worked (mute, vol down, chan down and then mute) and since there's no confirmation that it's toggled on or not I don't even know if that works.

I found a review on Amazon that sumarizes the issue I'm having so I'll quote it here just in case it helps:
One of the most annoying bugs that I've run into deals with HDMI input switching. Samsung's idea is that if you turn on a device, such as a PS4 or Xbox One, the TV will sense that the device is on and will automatically switch to that input. Most TVs rely on a technology called HDMI-CEC for this. Some additional benefits of using HDMI-CEC include being able to control a device using your TV remote without having to do any programming (since it sends the control signals over the HDMI connection), or being to turn on your device when the TV is off and the device will turn on the TV and automatically switch to the correct input. I found that when I have HDMI-CEC turned on, sometimes activating a device (especially if the TV is off) will cause the TV to forget my custominputnames and device types. This was always super annoying, especially since the TV would then initiate a setup wizard for each device input. The solution was to turn off HDMI-CEC altogether, and now everything is fine. However, I've noticed that if the TV is on, and I turn on a device, the TV will still switch inputsautomatically. This is handy, for sure, but it leads me to believe that Samsung is using both HDMI-CEC in addition to their own software tool for device detection and switching, and I suspect that that's the cause of the issues I've faced.
MU series is unusable in the current auto detect form.
1. The TV must keep the manual selection, edited source name and allow us to override auto detect
2. It must NEVER try to auto detect when HOME THEATRE SYSTEM is selected under HDMI profile.
This is annoying when all devices are connected to a receiver.
3. Make the TV boot to the TV tuner for a split second on power on CEC in order to switch on the receiver and then back to the last input. This was fixed on KU series and works well. You haven't deployed to MU series... Go figure...WHY?
4. Make the shortcut to HDMI stick to the smart bar... PLEASE GUYS... ITS A LITTLE BIT WEIRD FOR ME TO ASK THIS.
How do I get this 1180 update in Los Angeles? The automatic input switching is driving us nuts.While we are watching a movie on Netflix it keeps switching to the Direct TV input for no apparent reason. What can we do?
it seems when you turn off anynet cec it doesn't auto detect. Not a good solution having to switch audio and video seperately but at least the TV keeps the HDMI profile and icon mounted on the smart bar.
