Projectors & Other TVsHow do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?
Thanks,
Mark

Maybe this issue is largely the fault of Nintendo... considering I can turn on my PS4 from an off state (or sleep) and it won't automatically change the input; or leave it running in the background while I watch something else.
There may well be an issue with Nintendo Switch, but I don't have one nor any other form of games console.
My issue is solely with my 2016 Samsung TV. If it isn't affecting yours I, and many others, would love to know the secret

Sorry, not sure why this was posted with a generic username. I posted earlier, I too am having issues with the Nintendo Switch and my 2016 KS8000. I'm avoiding the issue by undocking the Switch when not in use, this autoswitching of HDMI doesn't happen when the tablet isn't docked. If Samsung is able to fix this, then that would be awesome and much appreciated.
My comment was more geared towards people saying "Samsung is the worst", etc and the like, and "I'll never buy them again"; just wanted to let them know, they may be up against a rude awakening if it is actually a problem with the Nintendo Switch and not the Samsung. Though I'm not a software engineer or anything, so I could be totally wrong

Personally I think there are seperate issues with Samsung TVs and Nintendo Switch. Users on this forum were having Auto-Switch problems before Nintendo Switch. I am most definitely amongst those not buying a Samsung TV till it's resolved as these issues never materialised with my previous (Samsung) TV, just the 2016 replacement. Samsung have stated that it's a feature that can't be turned off and not a fault.

Projectors & Other TVsSame issue. Will be playing my PS4 and my TV will switch over to the Nintendo Switch. Very annoying.
I guess I'll try undocking my Switch and run the power cable directly to it to charge it, while using my PS4.
My TV is UNKS800055.

Projectors & Other TVsJust to clarify some points :
First point : To be or no to be
For people saying [this issue is largely the fault of Nintendo] or [ it is actually a problem with the Nintendo Switch and not the Samsung] => NOT TRUE. The issue discussed in this thread is about a samsung fault in their new feature in HDMI-CEC on all 2016 Samsung Smart TV. Many don't have Nintendo switch and their TV are switching over over between HDMI sources. i bought a samsung TV to replace an LG TV, i did not change my devices connected to TV nor hdmi cables only the TV. i did't had that issue on LG TV only on the samsung TV.
the issue related to Nintendo switch is discussed here link

Projectors & Other TVsSecond point: resolution versus workaround
People saying that buying a HDMI switch (and/or deactivating HDMI-CEC) => IT'S A WORKAROUND requiring you to :
- Spending extra money (100$ over the price of the samsung TV),
- Forcing you to manipulate the hdmi switch remote control every time you want to switch source on TV, or worse standing up, walking to manual switch
- Losing the HDMI-CEC fonctionnality (auto turn on/off devices connnected to TV when you turn on or off the tv)
- losing the functionality of your Smart Remote Control : controlling external devices connected to the TV using the TV's remote control. I like to use my TV remote control to control my devices connected to TV (1 RC to replace 3 RC it's awesome).
We (samsung customers) are still waiting for a final resolution from samsung.
ITIL Definition
WORKAROUND : Workarounds are temporary solutions aimed at reducing or eliminating the impact of Known Errors (and thus Problems) for which a full resolution is not yet available. As such, Workarounds are often applied to reduce the impact of Incidents or Problems if their underlying causes cannot be readily identified or removed.
