I was able to use my phone as a remote for my Samsung tv before but recently I change my location with smart things on my account setting and it suddenly got disconnected. I tried it again but it's not working
Make sure your Bluetooth is connected and your WiFi is the same on the phone and TV. Have you tried the "media output" button on the pull down screen that's next to "device control"? That may help you get your remote back without having to go into smart things. I feel like smart things isn't that smart anymore.
