Projectors & Other TVsWe recently upgraded to a Yamaha TSR-700 7.1 channel 8K home theatre AVR to pair with our long time favorite Samsung HDTV: a 2011 PN59D8000FF 59" plasma screen. The TV is connected to the AVR with HDMI cable through the ARC connection. There is picture and sound. However, the issue is that intermittent sound interruptions occur every 30 seconds to couple of minutes. The audio cuts out for a second as a "No decoder" message briefly flashs on the AVR. This occurs whether watching content through the TV antenna, cable box or Roku. Very annoying, to say the least. Not sure if the issue is the AVR, cables or connections. Any opinions or recommendations would be appreciated.
One tech person thinks that the intermittent sound interruptions are a compatibility issue between the older HDTV and the newer technology of the AVR. The Samsung plasma HDTV has been discontinued for a few years, and the last software upgrade was 001031. The firmware version on the TSR-700 AVR is 1.26.

Projectors & Other TVsIt could be a compatibility issue with the audio format that is being sent to it but since it is with multiple devices, I would start by replacing the ARC HDMI cable in case it is faulty and causing issues.
